About the blend
HEAL holds the two most studied tissue repair peptides in a fixed 1:1 ratio. They are paired so often in the literature that they are almost never discussed separately, and the reason is that they work through completely unrelated mechanisms rather than doubling up on the same one.
BPC-157, short for Body Protection Compound 157, is a synthetic pentadecapeptide, fifteen amino acids taken from a partial sequence of a protective protein found in human gastric juice. It is unusual in remaining stable in gastric acid, which is part of why it appears so often in published work. Animal studies have examined tendon, ligament and muscle fibroblast activity, gastrointestinal mucosal integrity and new blood vessel formation, with the VEGFR2 signalling pathway and the nitric oxide system as recurring areas of investigation.
TB500 is a synthetic fragment of Thymosin Beta-4, a 43 amino acid protein found throughout human tissue and concentrated at sites of injury. TB500 is not the whole protein but the short active region around the sequence LKKTETQ, isolated because the fragment is smaller and more stable to work with. Thymosin Beta-4 is the principal actin sequestering protein in most cells, controlling the pool of building material available to the cytoskeleton, and research has examined how that influences cell migration, blood vessel formation and the way tissue reorganises during repair.
So one is studied largely around signalling and blood supply, the other around the physical machinery cells use to move and rebuild. That separation is the rationale for the pairing: the research interest is in whether two unrelated routes produce more than either does alone.
Where the evidence sits: both compounds are supported almost entirely by animal and in vitro work. Neither has completed large scale human clinical trials, neither holds a medicines licence in the UK or anywhere else, and research on the combination specifically is thinner still than research on each alone. It is supplied here strictly as a laboratory research chemical.
The pen format
This is where SerenQ does things differently. Instead of two lyophilised vials that have to be reconstituted and drawn up separately, both compounds arrive pre-blended in solution, already loaded into a graduated injection pen with a dial and a dose window. The ratio is fixed, so every dial setting gives the same even split.
