About MT2
MT2, better known as Melanotan II, is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide: a seven amino acid ring structure built as an analogue of alpha melanocyte stimulating hormone, one of the body’s own signalling peptides. The cyclic lactam bridge is the point of the design, making the molecule far more stable and far longer lasting than the natural hormone it is modelled on.
It is a non selective melanocortin receptor agonist, meaning it binds across the receptor family rather than picking one target. Research attention has centred on MC1R, the receptor tied to eumelanin production in melanocytes, which is why the compound turns up so often in pigmentation literature. Studies have also looked at MC3R and MC4R, receptors associated with appetite regulation and sexual function in animal models. That second thread is what eventually led to a related analogue, bremelanotide, going through formal clinical development.
Where the evidence sits: Melanotan II itself has never completed clinical development and holds no medicines licence in the UK or anywhere else. Published literature includes case reports of darkening or changes in existing moles, nausea and flushing, and the MHRA has issued public warnings about unlicensed melanotan products being sold for cosmetic use. It is supplied here strictly as a laboratory research chemical.
The pen format
This is where SerenQ does things differently. Instead of a lyophilised powder that has to be reconstituted, MT2 arrives as a solution already loaded into a graduated injection pen with a dial and a dose window.

Handling and storage
